i may have already opened it oops

look what came in the mail! i ordered these samples a few weeks ago. 2-3 weeks ago maybe? the samples contain the olay regenerist whip, the olay deep hydrating eye gel, and the olay daily facials cleansing cloth. it didnt take very long for the samples to get here.

i think the moisturizer packet should be bigger. the eye gel packet is the same size and that's only for your eyes! i thought i was getting a lot of liquid cleanser but was surprised to see that it was not a liquid cleanser, but was a dry cloth cleanser. if you think im going to wipe a rag on my face, you're quite wrong.

let's get this out the way. first of all, woah there cleanser. petrolatum as your main ingredient? petrolatum (aka petroleum jelly product) should not be on your face. not much further down, you can see fragrance. my sensitive skin is already screaming at me and i haven't even used it yet. skim just a little bit mor- oh no. parabens. multiple parabens. now i know there's not much scientific evidence that parabens DO cause cancer, but i'm a "better safe than sorry" kind of gal. i'm already at too much risk of cancer (medication and chronic illness).

for anyone who needs them, i will list the ingredients in each of the samples.

hmm. more and more parabens.

as you can see, the cleansing cloth is just a plain piece of cloth. you have to wet it and "massage" it in between your hands in order for it to lather. i will not be using the cloth (again, not rubbing a rag on my face) but instead will be using my spin brush!

as you can see, the cloth doesn't make much lather and what it did manage to make wasn't very good. it was a very light foam instead of being a nice firm, dense foam.
while i was cleansing, my face was slightly burning and getting pretty red. i was gliding over my skin with the spin brush and the spin brush never burns my face so i instantly knew it was the cleanser. the fragrance may be the culprit. (told you my sensitive skin would be screaming)

i washed off the foam and saw instead of looking fresh and clean (so fresh so clean) my face was dry and bumpy. i suffer from some bumps but manage to keep them down with the right skin products (skincare routine coming soon) but the cleanser must have inflamed them.

just to see how the products work on their own, i will not be using anything else with them. not even a toner. (gasp)

just look at that (mediocre) texture shot! this is the eye gel. the texture is like, well, a gel. groundbreaking. it has a pretty fresh scent. i would prefer a nice moisturizing cream but a light gel should be okay, right?

so i finish my cleansing steps (without toner, sigh) and i just can't wait to moisturize! i always start with the eye cream gel first and then i use the moisturizer.

the eye gel felt very... weird. it felt like it was just sitting on top of my skin not doing anything rather than hydrating (like it says) and moisturizing. then it started to dry down and it got very sticky. my eyelids were sticking together and it wasn't pleasant. next, my eyes started burning and i don't mean my eyeballs, i mean the area where i put the eye gel! last, the eye gel triggered a migraine right behind my eyes. ever had a migraine there? not very pleasant.

last is the moisturizer. while my eyes were burning like the fiery pits of hell, i still tried to carry on. at first i couldn't describe the texture. first thing i thought was gel, but i knew that wasn't right since the eye gel is a gel and this is a very different texture. then it came to me. petroleum jelly. imagine smearing petroleum jelly all over your face. yeah, thats what this feels like.

last time i ordered a sample from olay, it was just their regenerist whip BUT it wasn't fragrance free and i had a bad experience with it. it was heavily fragranced and it badly stung my face while triggering a migraine. wasn't moisturizing at all either. took the moisture out of my face as a matter of fact

but i wasn't going to hold it against it's younger innocent sibling. so i smeared the vaseline moisturizer all over my face. what did i get? the feeling that my body's moisture was getting sucked out of my body through my face right into this moisturizer. the same feeling i got with the older fragranced sibling. the only different is the moisturizer didn't burn or trigger a migraine. at least i think. i already had a migraine from the eye gel anyways.

i couldn't take the feeling of all of this on my face so i immediately cleansed my face again and went through my whole entire skincare routine. i felt so relieved. i can say i strongly dislike these products.

i would rate these a 1 out of 5. if i could rate 0, i would. but i wonder if im one out of a million to feel this way because they all have great ratings on the olay website. so if you would like to try it out for yourself, go for it! i will leave the link below.
