bryony rose

so i received a jade roller and gua sha set from matykos beauty (thank you matykos!) and i can say that i really love it! it seems to be high quality at such a low price compared to other competitors.

claims:
the set comes with a certificate that the jade roller and gua sha are genuine jade. theyre made of xiuyan jade. by what ive researched, there are three types of genuine jade. jadeite, nephrite, and xiuyan jade. jadeite is the rarest and most valuable of them all. nephrite is in the middle and is rich in tremolite. xiuyan is the most popular as it is the most affordable and xiuyan is rich in serpentine.
jade is considered to have healing powers and balance the chi but if you dont believe in that theres other benefits!
source

jade roller:
-reduces puffiness and significantly reduces wrinkles.
-powerful anti-aging effect
-helps to reduce excess water
-eliminates toxins and waste buildup
-improves complexion ensuring a healthy glowing skin
-anti corrosion bendable metal holders
-30% larger than competitors
-high quality zinc alloy
-patented plastic inserts for a non-squeaky, never block experience

gua sha:
-improves overall circulation and reduces inflammation
-relieves muscle and joint pain including carpal tunnel syndrome
-helps back pain and corrects posture
-successfully reduces perimenopause symptoms
-30% larger and 15% thicker than competitors
-smooth handmade polished
how to use:

i use the gua sha at night when i use my cleansing oil so itll be easier to take the oil off when im done. i feel refreshed after i use it.  people typically use regular facial oils but i get acne easily and i just prefer to be able to wash the oil off. i follow the visual directions the pamphlet gives.
i use the face shop rice water bright rich cleansing oil.

i use the jade roller in the morning and at night one time after i pat my essence in and another time at night after i put my moisturizer on. in the morning, it helps to wake me up and at night it helps to relax me and help put me to sleep. it doesnt squeak which i heard some other jade rollers do which the pamphlet says it wont squeak. i follow the visual directions the pamphlet gives.
i use the cerave moisturizing lotion and the jigott moisture skin essence.

i put both the jade roller and the gua sha in my freezer to benefit from them more. i recommend putting yours in the freezer or the fridge so you get the cooling effects with it.
i used to run an ice cube across my face but since i received the jade roller, i dont have to do that anymore!

one thing i CAN mention is that the pamphlet they give you seems a little off. the print is askew and the instructions seem to cut off at certain points but its not bad enough to where you cant assume what to do.

if you're looking into buying a jade roller and gua sha, i highly recommend the matykos beauty jade set. you can buy your set here.

i may have already opened it oops

look what came in the mail! i ordered these samples a few weeks ago. 2-3 weeks ago maybe? the samples contain the olay regenerist whip, the olay deep hydrating eye gel, and the olay daily facials cleansing cloth. it didnt take very long for the samples to get here.

i think the moisturizer packet should be bigger. the eye gel packet is the same size and that's only for your eyes! i thought i was getting a lot of liquid cleanser but was surprised to see that it was not a liquid cleanser, but was a dry cloth cleanser. if you think im going to wipe a rag on my face, you're quite wrong.

let's get this out the way. first of all, woah there cleanser. petrolatum as your main ingredient? petrolatum (aka petroleum jelly product) should not be on your face. not much further down, you can see fragrance. my sensitive skin is already screaming at me and i haven't even used it yet. skim just a little bit mor- oh no. parabens. multiple parabens. now i know there's not much scientific evidence that parabens DO cause cancer, but i'm a "better safe than sorry" kind of gal. i'm already at too much risk of cancer (medication and chronic illness).

for anyone who needs them, i will list the ingredients in each of the samples.

olay daily facials cleansing cloth: Petrolatum, PEG-100, Glycerin, Cyclodextrin, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Decyl Glucoside, Lauryl Glucoside, Butylene Glycol, Fragrance, PEG-14M, Polyquaternium-10, Benzyl Alcohol, Panthenol, Salicylic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Polyacrylate, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Tocopheryl Acetate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf, Trideceth-6, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract

olay regenerist whip: Water, Glycerin, Isohexadecane, Niacinamide, Octenylsuccinate, Nylon-12, Dimethicone, Panthenol, Isopropyl Isostearate, Aluminum Starch Tocopheryl Acetate, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, Sodium Peg-7 Olive Oil Carboxylate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Ceratonia Siliqua (Carob) Fruit Extract, Stearyl Alcohol, Polyethylene, Cetyl Alcohol, Behenyl Alcohol, Sodiumacrylates Copolymer, Titanium Dioxide, Benzyl Alcohol, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Dimethiconol, Polyacrylamide, Peg-100 Stearate, Propylparaben, Cetearyl Glucoside, Cetearyl Alcohol, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Disodium Edta, Citric Acid, Stearic Acid, Palmitic Acid, C12-13 Pareth-3, Laureth-7, Sodium Hydroxide,Mica.

olay deep hydrating eye gel: Water, Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Dimethicone, Sodium Hyaluronate, Panthenol, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water, Aminomethyl Propanol, Carbomer, Caprylyl Glycol, 1.2-Hexanediol, Phenoxyethanol, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Dimethiconol, Disodium EDTA, Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, PVM/MA Copolymer, Green 5

hmm. more and more parabens.

as you can see, the cleansing cloth is just a plain piece of cloth. you have to wet it and "massage" it in between your hands in order for it to lather. i will not be using the cloth (again, not rubbing a rag on my face) but instead will be using my spin brush!

as you can see, the cloth doesn't make much lather and what it did manage to make wasn't very good. it was a very light foam instead of being a nice firm, dense foam.
while i was cleansing, my face was slightly burning and getting pretty red. i was gliding over my skin with the spin brush and the spin brush never burns my face so i instantly knew it was the cleanser. the fragrance may be the culprit. (told you my sensitive skin would be screaming)

i washed off the foam and saw instead of looking fresh and clean (so fresh so clean) my face was dry and bumpy. i suffer from some bumps but manage to keep them down with the right skin products (skincare routine coming soon) but the cleanser must have inflamed them.

just to see how the products work on their own, i will not be using anything else with them. not even a toner. (gasp)

just look at that (mediocre) texture shot! this is the eye gel. the texture is like, well, a gel. groundbreaking. it has a pretty fresh scent. i would prefer a nice moisturizing cream but a light gel should be okay, right?

so i finish my cleansing steps (without toner, sigh) and i just can't wait to moisturize! i always start with the eye cream gel first and then i use the moisturizer.

the eye gel felt very... weird. it felt like it was just sitting on top of my skin not doing anything rather than hydrating (like it says) and moisturizing. then it started to dry down and it got very sticky. my eyelids were sticking together and it wasn't pleasant. next, my eyes started burning and i don't mean my eyeballs, i mean the area where i put the eye gel! last, the eye gel triggered a migraine right behind my eyes. ever had a migraine there? not very pleasant.

last is the moisturizer. while my eyes were burning like the fiery pits of hell, i still tried to carry on. at first i couldn't describe the texture. first thing i thought was gel, but i knew that wasn't right since the eye gel is a gel and this is a very different texture. then it came to me. petroleum jelly. imagine smearing petroleum jelly all over your face. yeah, thats what this feels like.

last time i ordered a sample from olay, it was just their regenerist whip BUT it wasn't fragrance free and i had a bad experience with it. it was heavily fragranced and it badly stung my face while triggering a migraine. wasn't moisturizing at all either. took the moisture out of my face as a matter of fact

but i wasn't going to hold it against it's younger innocent sibling. so i smeared the vaseline moisturizer all over my face. what did i get? the feeling that my body's moisture was getting sucked out of my body through my face right into this moisturizer. the same feeling i got with the older fragranced sibling. the only different is the moisturizer didn't burn or trigger a migraine. at least i think. i already had a migraine from the eye gel anyways.

i couldn't take the feeling of all of this on my face so i immediately cleansed my face again and went through my whole entire skincare routine. i felt so relieved. i can say i strongly dislike these products.

i would rate these a 1 out of 5. if i could rate 0, i would. but i wonder if im one out of a million to feel this way because they all have great ratings on the olay website. so if you would like to try it out for yourself, go for it! i will leave the link below.

glossier. oh how i love glossier. i mean seriously. its an unhealthy obsession. how can you not love glossier with their "skin first, makeup second" motto and the cute packaging?

i decided to buy the milky jelly cleanser because i have dry sensitive skin. foaming cleansers always either dry me out or irritate the heck out of my skin. tomato face for days.

i received a sample in my glossier order one time (balm dotcom of course) and fell in love with the milky jelly cleanser.

now here we are.
lets get the packaging out of the way.
its so cute, man. since they give you stickers in your order, you can decorate your bottle like i did. (see above)
i just wish the bottle was bigger for what you pay. ($18 for 6 fl oz) but you can buy the smaller travel sized bottle. ($9 for 2 fl oz).

the smell.
it smells like roses. absolutely amazing. cant stop sniffing it. makes washing my face more pleasant. the best thing is the scent is from rose water, not fragrance. the rose water also helps soothe my angry skin.

consistency?
exactly what the name is.
the color is milky and its a jelly texture. the cleanser feels cooling when it touches your face and hydrates as it cleanses. it can be quite thick unless you add water so what i like to do is rub it around on my dry face for a bit, then add water and rub it around even more.

i have not yet tried using the cleanser with a spin brush yet. seems like a difficult consistency to use a spin brush with and i havent gotten my spin brush yet (getting it today)

does it get the job done?
yes!
my face feels very clean after washing and doesnt feel dry at all!
i would give this a 4.5/5, the .5 knocked off only because of price vs size.

GASP
whats this???
a glossier referral link? from moi?
yes
please use my glossier link to get 10% off your total order. thank you!

i havent posted here in over 2 years so i want to update with some stuff.
on august 22, 2018
i was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis
wow so nice
my whole life ive been constantly sick and things became prominent in 6th grade
i got the stomach flu and it was horrible
ever since then, I've had GI problems
it would be hard for me to eat, id throw up everytime i ate so i just stopped eating and went from 99 lbs to 85 lbs
then one day (still in 6th grade) i woke up late at night with an excruciating burning pain in my chest and was sobbing so my mom took me to the hospital
there, i was diagnosed with GERD.
after then, I've constantly battled against GERD trying to control it
periods of being able to eat without severe nausea and/or throwing up and periods with nausea
literally everytime i brushed my teeth, i would throw up so i always started the day with throwing up my stomach acid
fast forward to the summer before 10th grade
i made crescent rolls but they were made the day of expiration
everyone else ate them and were fine but i ate mine the day after
they expired on august 8th so i ate mine august 9th
august 10th: i got sick
i thought it was food poisoning
diarrhea (yeah not afraid to admit that), nausea, stomach pain, all that
i ate saltine crackers all day and drank water
august 11th: things got worse.
i totally lost my appetite and my thirst. ive didnt eat anything or drink anything. it was so bad for me not to drink water since i had diarrhea multiple times a day and was losing water at a fast pace
august 13th: stomach pain got so terrible (sharp cramping pain right above my belly button by the way) that i went to the emergency room.
they gave me toradol, iv fluids because of the severe dehydration, and a tablet underneath my tongue to help the nausea (forgot the name). i felt so much better and i thought that would be the end of it. especially since i was taking anti-diarrheal pills (which made things worse because somehow even though it stopped the diarrhea, it gave me a really bad cold with pink eye)
me texting my boyfriend: im having really embarrassing symptoms... (talking about diarrhea)
boyfriend: what is it?
me: lol im bleeding out my butthole
boyfriend: WHAT
me: jkjk
august 14th: i really started bleeding out my butthole, that was karma for joking about it. stomach pain started back, even worse. still cant eat. still cant drink but only feeling a little better because of the iv fluids from last night.
i finally started throwing up. and i threw up blood. that was the final thing that made my mom take me back up to the emergency room and then i was admitted. for 12 days.

last night, a small bit of my arm swelled up, so my dad had me put peroxide on it two times and changing my sheets just to make sure i didnt get bit by a bug. but then today, i woke up and the whole right side of my lip was swollen. severely. my mom took me to the hospital and they gave me liquid benadryl. it tasted like medicated cinnamon apple pie. the doctors say its angioedema, which can cause the pipes to swell up in severe cases. so i was prescribed liquid steroids.
my lip swelling has went down A LOT but its still a tiny bit swelled up. but i will be okay. :)
